For years, Democrats and their sycophantic supporters have used deception to push their political objectives and agenda.
They change words and the meaning of words in order to hide what they’re doing. “Global warming,” for instance, has become “climate change” because the hard data undermined their claims that the Earth was warming; but who can argue with the fact that the climate is always ‘changing’ — even if those changes are not being caused by human activity, as Democrats claim?
So it is with guns and the Left’s desire to disarm Americans as much as possible. Democrats cannot simply come out and say, “Hey, I want to take your guns away and the Second Amendment be damned” because it results in widespread pushback from the American people.
Case in point: The implosion of Robert “Beto” O’Rourke’s presidential campaign.
Mind you, there was plenty working against O’Rourke already, namely, he’s never been a ranking member of the Left-wing Democrat establishment. He’s been a loyal foot soldier, sure, but nowhere near the Democrat elite.
Also, O’Rourke was painfully open about how he planned to approach guns or, at least, a certain class of firearms.
In short: He would ban and then confiscate semi-automatic rifles he and the Left-wing establishment media have improperly termed “assault rifles.”
He said so, in fact, on CNN.
“Are you, in fact, in favor of gun confiscation?” host Chris Cuomo asked the then-presidential contender in September (O’Rourke has since ended his campaign).
“Yes, when it comes to AR-15s and AK-47s. Weapons designed for use on a military battlefield,” he responded (are there any other kinds of battlefields?).
“But when it comes to firearms for use in hunting or self-defense, the answer is ‘no,’ and I don’t want you or anyone else to get into the fear mongering that some have fallen prey to, saying that the government’s going to come and take all of your guns,” he continued.
“What we are talking about exclusively is weapons of war that have no place…on our streets and should remain on the battlefield,” O’Rourke said.
That was way too much honesty, according to that kook Joy Behar, one of the many kook co-hosts of “The View.”
As Infowars notes:
The View panel lamented 2020 candidate Beto O’Rourke dropping out, saying that his extreme anti-gun rhetoric hurt the Democrat platform and put gun owners on their guard.
That’s when Behar took a page right out of the totalitarian playbook, claiming that politicians should lie to their constituents to achieve their unconstitutional agendas.
“They should not tell everything they’re going to do,” Behar exclaimed. “Like, if you are going to take people’s guns away, wait until you get elected and then take the guns away. Don’t tell them ahead of time!”
Right. Because that’s what Americans should look for in their presidents — an inherent tendency to lie about their policies and agenda. You know, like Obama did about Obamacare.
Another co-host, the token ‘conservative’ among them, Megan McCain, at least called out Behar, noting that gun confiscation is a no fooling, for sure Democrat objective but they are too dishonest to admit it (most of them) because they know that won’t fly with a majority of Americans.
“By the way, that’s what people like me think they’re gonna do,” McCain responded. “That’s what people like me think is gonna happen, so I appreciate his honesty.”
Then again, other 2020 Democratic presidential wannabes have adopted O’Rourke’s position. Former VP Joe Biden, who doesn’t seem to know where he is half the time, has also called for a national ban on semi-auto rifles like AR-15s and AK-47s.
Sen. Kamala Harris, whose own campaign is now flagging, has also said she would take executive action on gun control if elected.
