Left-wing Democrats and their hypocrite allies in Hollywood and the media have blamed Republicans, conservatives, the NRA, and the Trump administration for what happened in Las Vegas last weekend, with many actually blaming the noted and respected gun rights organization for putting the guns Stephen Paddock used to kill 58 people and wound 500-plus more in his hands.
“The NRA should be put on trial,” I saw one idiot post on Twitter.
“Shame on @GOP for supporting MURDER,” wrote another.
There were many more examples, but you get the drift. And while I’m sure at least some of the posts came from bot accounts, far too many no doubt came from real people who actually believe that Trump supporters and the NRA support mass murder, or that Paddock — having decided to kill as many people as he could — would not have chosen to drive a panel van into the crowd instead. (Related: “Multiple shooters” reported by an Australian man staying in the room right next to Stephen Paddock at the Mandalay Bay.)
But what is particularly galling about these people is that their hero, Barack Obama, and his administration are liable for more deaths from guns that the former president and his attorney general, Eric Holder, willingly sent to murderous, dangerous Mexican drug cartels.
As noted by legal watchdog group Judicial Watch in a May 2016 press release, weapons trafficked to the cartels via the Justice Department’s “Fast and Furious” gun-walking operation “have been widely used by major Mexican cartels.”
According to Justice Department records the watchdog had newly obtained, in the three previous years a total of 94 Fast and Furious guns have been recovered by Mexican authorities in the capital of Mexico City, as well as in 12 Mexican states, “with the majority being seized in Sonora, Chihuahua and Sinaloa.” Of the weapons recovered, 12 were rifles and 12 were pistols, all of which were identified as guns trafficked south of the border by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which falls under the control of DoJ.
Further, reports tie the guns to some 69 murders — more than the number of people killed in Vegas, and by a man who bought his weapons legally.
Judicial Watch noted further:
Fast and Furious was a Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) “gunrunning” operation in which the Obama administration allowed guns to be sold to Mexican drug cartels in the hope the weapons would be recovered at crime scenes. Fast and Furious weapons have been implicated in the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and hundreds of other innocents in Mexico. Prior reports tie Fast and Furious weapons to at least 200 deaths in Mexico alone.
“These documents show President Obama’s legacy includes one of gunrunning and violence in Fast and Furious,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “As the production of documents from the ATF continues, we expect to see even further confirmation of Obama’s disgraced former Attorney General Eric Holder’s prediction that Fast and Furious guns will be used in crimes for years to come.”
What’s even more heinous about Fast and Furious was the motivation behind it. Congressional investigators and investigative journalists discovered that the Obama administration launched the operation as a way to push for more gun control.
In December 2011, then-CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reported that documents she obtained showed “that the [BATF] discussed using their covert operation…to argue for controversial new rules about guns sales.”
Attkisson reported further:
On July 14, 2010, after ATF headquarters in Washington D.C. received an update on Fast and Furious, ATF Field Ops Assistant Director Mark Chait emailed Bill Newell, ATF’s Phoenix Special Agent in Charge of Fast and Furious:
“Bill – can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same (licensed gun dealer) and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks.”
So in other words, Obama’s and Holder’s ATF secretly encouraged U.S.-based gun dealers to sell multiple weapons to straw buyers purchasing on behalf of the cartels so those guns would be used in crimes and murders giving the administration a reason to push for new gun control laws.
That’s not just sick, it’s criminal.
So the next time you hear some lib whine to you about Vegas and the NRA, remind them of their hero’s multiple death sentences of Mexican citizens.
